Pakistan Nationwide Refinery Restricted (NRL) has began producing very low sulphur gas oil (VLSFO) for ships and is planning to broaden its month-to-month output by no less than five-fold in six months, the corporate mentioned late Tuesday.
The corporate is producing about 2,000 metric tons of VLSFO monthly, with the month-to-month quantity prone to improve to 10,000 tons to 12,000 tons over the following six months, NRL instructed Reuters in an electronic mail.
NRL introduced the manufacturing of VLSFO in a discover to the Pakistan Inventory Change earlier this week, stating that this comes after a “crucial change in crude combine and changes in manufacturing course of”.
In Pakistan, VLSFO is often produced through mixing of the high-sulphur gas oil (HSFO) with different fuels, trade sources mentioned.
NRL mentioned it can provide VLSFO to ships calling at Pakistan.
“HSFO market is shrinking in Pakistan and the refinery faces issues in promoting it domestically, whereas bunker gas market section is starved,” the corporate mentioned.
